The Fierce and Fearless Female Initiative

Fierce and Fearless is dedicated to advancing female wrestling by creating opportunities for growth, leadership, and connection. Through training, mentorship, and community support, we empower female athletes to build confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love for the sport on and off the mat.​

Purpose Statement

The Fierce and Fearless Female Initiative exists to advance female wrestling by providing training, mentorship, leadership development, and scholarship opportunities for female athletes throughout Valley Center and the greater North County San Diego region. As an initiative of Valley Center Youth Wrestling, Fierce and Fearless is committed to fostering confidence, resilience, and opportunity for female wrestlers from youth through collegiate advancement.

Clinics & Skill Development

Our clinics provide a focused and supportive environment for female wrestlers to develop technical skills, explore freestyle and folkstyle transitions, explore Greco and Beach wrestling and build confidence in competition.

Led by experienced coaches and collegiate athletes, these sessions emphasize:

  • Technical progression and mat awareness

  • Live wrestling and situational development

  • Strength, agility, and movement training

  • A positive, high-energy learning environment

We are committed to creating spaces where female athletes feel seen, supported, and challenged.

Mentorship & Leadership

Fierce and Fearless is built on connection. We believe in developing not only strong athletes, but strong leaders.

Our mentorship program connects:

  • Youth wrestlers

  • High school athletes

  • Collegiate wrestlers and coaches

Through guidance, shared experiences, and leadership opportunities, athletes gain confidence in their voice, their presence, and their ability to lead both on and off the mat.

College Pathway & Planning Support

We provide guidance for athletes interested in continuing their wrestling careers at the collegiate level.

Support includes:

  • Understanding collegiate wrestling opportunities

  • Navigating recruitment conversations

  • Building athletic and academic pathways

  • Connecting with college coaches and programs

Our goal is to help athletes and families feel informed, prepared, and confident as they take the next step.

Scholarships & Athlete Support

Fierce and Fearless is committed to reducing barriers and creating opportunity.

We offer scholarship pathways for:

  • Female wrestlers continuing into collegiate programs

  • Athletes demonstrating leadership within the wrestling community

  • Participants actively engaged in clinics, mentorship, and program growth

Scholarships are designed to recognize commitment, character, and contribution—not just performance.

Community & Belonging

At the heart of Fierce and Fearless is community.

We are building a network of athletes, coaches, and families who support one another, celebrate growth, and create lasting connections through wrestling.

  • Expanded all-girls clinics
